Hydronic Water Treatment for Fulton boilers
The water inside a hydronic system is a working part of the boiler. Sludge, scale and dissolved oxygen attack the heat exchanger and piping in ways no annual service can reverse: sludge insulates the exchanger and causes kettling, scale raises metal temperatures, and corrosion products travel into valves and pumps. Water treatment is the discipline that keeps that water clean from the system's first fill.
Treatment visits start with testing the existing water and inspecting what it has already deposited. Depending on the findings, the work ranges from a system flush and inhibitor dosing on a healthy loop to a full cleaning of a system that has run years on untreated water, and, for new installations, the clean fill and inhibitor treatment that manufacturers' water-quality requirements and warranties expect.

My boiler makes banging or rumbling noises. Is that water chemistry?
Kettling is often the sound of sludge insulating the heat exchanger while water flashes to steam against hot metal. Treatment and cleaning address that cause, and the diagnosis is confirmed before work begins.
I had a new boiler installed. Do I need water treatment?
New boilers are often installed on systems holding years of old water and debris. A clean fill and inhibitor treatment protect the heat exchanger and the warranty; the proposal states whether treatment is included or recommended.
How often should hydronic water be checked?
