About the Mini-Therm JVS (discontinued)

The Mini-Therm II JVS is one of the two ignition configurations of Laars' Model JV copper-tube hydronic boiler line: the JVS uses an electronic intermittent ignition device (I.I.D.), while the JVT uses a thermocouple with a continuous burning pilot. The 1025Y installation manual covers both at sizes 50-225, and the matching parts list prints the twelve model columns JVS-50, JVT-50, JVS-75, JVT-75, JVS-100, JVT-100, JVS-125, JVT-125, JVS-160, JVT-160, JVS-225 and JVT-225.

The dimensional table gives six cabinet sizes in inches — the 50 at 13-3/8 by 27-3/4 with a 4 in vent, stepping up to the 225 at 25-5/8 by 31-1/2 with a 7 in vent — with 1-1/4 in water connections on every size and 1/2 in gas connections except the 3/4 in natural-gas connection on the 225. The boilers are natural-draft with a built-in draft diverter, an automatic vent damper (standard on U.S. and Canadian models; a metal plug is used on the JVS damper plate, and the JVT damper plate hole is never blocked) and an optional side-wall power venter.

The manual prints no input, output or AFUE rating table: the size number is the input in MBTU/h, and the temperature-rise and flow tables in Section 8 are based on the "Normal Input Rate from the rating plate". Laars' discontinued-documents index lists the Mini-Therm II JVS/JVT installation manual and parts list, and the Document Library files them under Discontinued Documents. The Canadian warranty sheet (Document 8023) covers residential gas boilers other than the Mascots and NeoTherm.
