Lochinvar SYNC SBN1000 in practice

The SYNC SBN1000 is the 100-1,000 MBH size of Lochinvar's previous-generation commercial condensing boiler. The I&O Rev AA ratings table prints 941 MBH gross output, an 818 MBH net AHRI water rating, 8.4 gallons of water content, 3" outlet and (2)-2" inlet water connections, a 1-1/2" gas connection and 6" air and vent sizes.

Lochinvar keeps the SYNC support page live under a "Series Discontinued" banner with the I&O, service and user manuals, so owners can still identify the unit and its control. The I&O notes state that standard boilers operate from sea level to 4,500 ft with a 4% derate per 1,000 ft, and that high-altitude builds cover 3,000-12,000 ft with a 2% derate per 1,000 ft. The SYNC's commercial role is filled today by the FTXL and Crest lines.

Best suited to

  • Buildings with an installed SYNC SBN1000 that needs its ratings identified
  • Owners matching a discontinued SYNC to its archived I&O manual
  • Repair-or-replace decisions comparing the SYNC with current FTXL/Crest sizes
