About the Knight KBN (water-tube, legacy)

Before the current stainless fire-tube Knights and the Knight XL Commercial (KBX), Lochinvar sold the Knight as a water-tube boiler. Its official support pages carry a "Series Discontinued: KNIGHT® Water Tube Boiler" banner for the KBN081-286 floor models (parts sheets also name the "KB 081-286" floor and "WB 051-211" wall water-tube ranges), and a "Series Discontinued: Classic KNIGHT™ XL Commercial Boiler" banner for the KBN400-801 light-commercial line that preceded today's Knight XL Commercial. The KBN081 support page prints a 15-year heat exchanger and 5-year parts warranty with a 125 lb shipping weight, while the KBN400 Classic Knight XL page prints 10-year/1-year coverage at 308 lb — useful identifiers for an owner trying to date an installed unit.

Lochinvar's current site never uses the code string "WBN" (verified against the product sitemap and Wayback captures of lochinvar.com): the wall-mounted water-tube models are documented by their "WB 051-211" parts sheets, and the fire-tube wall and floor generations Lochinvar still documents are the WHN and KHN lines covered by Boilers.ca's separate Knight legacy hub. Both KBN support pages host the archived I&O, service and user manuals plus parts sheets for their ranges, and the manuals cover KB-WB PC software and KB-WB-WH editions.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the KBN a current Lochinvar boiler?

No. Lochinvar keeps official support pages for the KBN081-286 and Classic Knight XL KBN400-801 water-tube generations under a "Series Discontinued" banner, so the records exist to help owners identify older units.

Should I call the old water-tube Knight a WBN?

No — lochinvar.com never uses the string "WBN". The official codes are KBN (081-286 and 400-801) plus the wall range documented in parts sheets as WB 051-211; the fire-tube wall line Lochinvar documents is the WHN.
