What actually separates them

Both boilers are fully assembled cast-iron water boilers with insulated jackets, 30 lb ASME relief valves at 50 psi MAWP, pressure gauges and 3/4-inch drain valves, and both print 84% AFUE in the sell sheet with a 7-inch flue. The 15C-8D carries seven burners and the 15C-9D eight.

The capacity step is modest but real: 262 MBH input with 221 MBH heating capacity and 192 MBH net AHRI on the 8D, against 299/252/219 MBH on the 9D. Water content rises from 12.7 to 14.4 gallons and weight from 552 to 616 lb, while the cabinet widens from 27-1/2 to 30-3/4 inches at the same height and depth.

Both accept propane conversion kits and a central heating pump, and both are covered by the published Modupak multiple-boiler installation manual when installed in plants. Choose by the calculated load plus pickup, not by the size name.
