Is a heat-loss assessment the same as boiler sizing?
No. The assessment establishes how much heat the building needs; sizing turns that into a specific boiler capacity and firing range. Boilers.ca offers them as separate services, usually in that order.
Do I need one to replace my boiler?
Properly sized replacements start from a load calculation. A like-for-like swap of a boiler that was correctly sized may not need one, but the assessment is the way to catch a system that has always been undersized or oversized.
