Laars Endurance EBP0175 in practice

The EBP0175 is the 175 MBTU/h combination model of Laars' discontinued Endurance line, covered by the Document 1187E installation, operation and maintenance instructions. Its twenty-gallon tank stores boiler water rather than domestic water, keeping the unit hot for immediate response; domestic water is heated through a stainless steel plate heat exchanger, and the appliance carries its own circulating pump and bypass loop.

The model structure reads E for Endurance, B for combination heating and domestic water, the 0110 or 0175 input digits, N or P for fuel, I for indoor location, a revision digit, F for modulating fire and A/R for country of sale. The Endurance installs as a direct-vent or Category IV appliance with concentric or two-pipe venting, and Laars' discontinued-documents index describes the line as "including EDP, EDN, now Obsolete"; the FT Series Floor is documented as the replacement, with an Endurance Vent Adapter Kit for reusable venting.

Best suited to

  • Homes replacing an Endurance EBP0175 where the FT Series Floor is the documented retrofit
  • Households wanting priority domestic hot water and space heating from one modulating unit
  • Closet and alcove installations using direct-vent or Category IV venting
