Laars Heating Systems Endurance (discontinued)

The Endurance is Laars' discontinued modulating boiler line built around a twenty-gallon tank of boiler water and a stainless steel domestic-water plate heat exchanger: the EBP combination boiler plus the EDP hydronic and EDN non-ferrous boilers at 110 and 175 MBTU/h. Laars' discontinued-documents index calls it "now Obsolete".

Fuel
Natural gas or propane; the model structure uses N for natural gas and P for propane across the EBP, EDP and EDN series.

About the Endurance (discontinued)

The Endurance EBP is a low-pressure, direct-vent hot-water boiler that provides priority domestic hot water on demand as well as hydronic space heating. Unlike a storage water heater, the unit's twenty-gallon tank holds boiler water, not domestic water; domestic water is heated through a stainless steel plate heat exchanger, and the appliance carries its own circulating pump and bypass loop. Model structure reads E for Endurance, B/P/N for combination, hydronic or non-ferrous, 0110 or 0175 for input, N/P for fuel, I for indoor, 2 for revision, F for modulating fire and A/R for country of sale.

The 1187E manual covers the EBP at 110 and 175 MBTU/h with parts columns for EBP0110, EBP0175, EDP0110, EDP0175, EDN0110 and EDN0175, while the earlier 1117F manual documents the EBP combination, EDP modulating hydronic and EDN non-ferrous modulating boiler series. Both manuals describe direct-vent or Category IV installation, concentric or two-pipe venting, and the boiler-water tank that keeps the unit hot for immediate response to a call for heat or domestic water.

Laars' discontinued-documents index lists the Endurance install/operating manual "including EDP, EDN, now Obsolete" and the old-style Endurance installation manual, and the live /products/product/endurance-replacement page positions the FT Series Floor as the replacement: it accounts for the Endurance footprint, keeps the top connections, offers an Endurance Vent Adapter Kit for reusable venting and lists an Endurance condensate neutralizer adapter. The 1187E parts table lists model columns EBP0110, EBP0175, EDP0110, EDP0175, EDN0110 and EDN0175.

Highlights

  • EBP combination, EDP hydronic and EDN non-ferrous modulating boilers at 110 and 175 MBTU/h
  • Twenty-gallon boiler-water tank with a stainless steel domestic-water plate heat exchanger
  • Priority domestic hot water on demand plus hydronic space heating (EBP)
  • Direct vent or Category IV; concentric or two-pipe venting
  • Laars discontinued-documents index: "including EDP, EDN, now Obsolete"
  • FT Series Floor documented as the Endurance replacement with vent and neutralizer adapters

Frequently asked questions

Is the Endurance discontinued?

Yes. Laars' discontinued-documents index describes the Endurance install/operating manual as "including EDP, EDN, now Obsolete", and the live Endurance Replacement page presents the FT Series Floor as the replacement boiler for Endurance installations.

What sizes did the Endurance come in?

The 1187E manual covers the EBP combination boiler at 110 and 175 MBTU/h, and its parts table lists the EBP, EDP and EDN model columns at both 0110 and 0175 inputs.

How does the Endurance make domestic hot water?

A twenty-gallon tank holds boiler water rather than domestic water; domestic water is heated on demand through a stainless steel plate heat exchanger, and the EBP provides priority domestic hot water as well as space heating.
