Lochinvar Power-fin PBN0752-M9 in practice
The Power-fin PBN0752-M9 is the 150-750 MBH size of Lochinvar's non-condensing copper-tube vertical commercial boiler line. The printed rating table lists 638 MBH gross output, a 554 MBH net AHRI water rating at a piping and pickup allowance of 1.15, 4 gallons of water content, 2-1/2" water connections, a 1-1/4" gas connection and 5" air and 5" vent connections, all at 85% thermal efficiency.
The burner modulates at 5:1 turndown, and the boiler runs on natural gas (PBN) or propane (PBL) with no LP deration printed. The I&O notes that Power-fin boilers require special gas venting — Category II or IV in AL29-4C stainless steel — and that standard units operate from sea level to 4,500 ft with a 4.5% derate per 1,000 ft, while high-altitude builds cover 3,000-5,500 ft. The SMART TOUCH display and CON·X·US remote connect are standard, and the cascading sequencer links up to eight boilers.
Best suited to
- Commercial hydronic loads near 750 MBH input
- Buildings replacing an older Power-fin PB or PBN boiler
- Plants that want the printed net AHRI water rating for sizing
