Utica MGC-9D in practice
The MGC-9D is one of the two MGC Series 4 sizes Utica prints: 299 MBH fixed input for 252 MBH heating capacity and a 219 MBH net AHRI water rating at 84.0% AFUE. The official sell sheet (PN 240013317B Rev. 09/04/26) prints a 60-gal recommended expansion tank, a 7" flue, 8 burners, 14.4 gal of boiler water, 30¾ × 36⅜ × 26½ in cabinet dimensions and a 616 lb shipping weight for this size.
It is a non-condensing cast-iron boiler with cast-iron push nipples, atmospheric chimney venting through a factory-installed integral draft diverter and automatic vent damper, and a Hydrolevel FuelSmart control with digital display and diagnostics that monitors water temperature and delays burner start until residual heat has been transferred to the system. Water return and supply are 1¼" NPT with ½" NPT gas; electrical is 120 V AC at under 12 A; MAWP is 50 psi with a 30 psi ASME relief valve.
The IOM Rev. D also lists the propane MGC-8DP/9DP and an altitude/input table (natural gas 262→245 MBH and 299→280 MBH at altitude, AFUE 84.0 both). Utica prints a 20-year non-prorated limited residential warranty, and the official category card carries the 'Current' and 'Available in Canada' tags. Gas, venting and combustion work belongs with a licensed contractor.
