What actually separates them

Both FTCW models are the combination versions of the wall-hung FT condensing platform — domestic hot water is produced by the combi itself, and both are documented in the FTCW installation manual, Document 1487C, with natural gas as the factory configuration and propane field-convertible.

The two share the combi's code table, which adds DHW-side entries such as the DHW outlet sensor (32) and mixing-valve codes 66 and 68 to the shared two-digit FT family, each with Soft Lock or Hard Lock recovery. Nothing in the diagnostics differs between the size steps.

The only documented difference is the input printed on the manual cover: 140,000 BTU/h on the FTCW140 against 199,000 BTU/h on the FTCW199. Both the space-heating load and the hot-water demand must fit the chosen size, so the FTCW199 earns its place when the heat-loss calculation plus combi hot-water duty approaches the top step.
