Comparison

P-K MODU-FIRE FD N2500 vs N3000

Verdict in brief

The MODU-FIRE FD N2500 and N3000 share the same 500 MBH minimum input, 2" NPT gas connection, 3"-150# flanged supply/return, 1,185 lb operating and 1,220 lb shipping weights and 357 sq. ft. heated surface; the N3000 adds 500 MBH of input and 424 MBH of output, deepens turndown from 5:1 to 6:1, grows 2" taller and moves 254.7 GPM at 20°F ΔT versus 212.3 GPM.

What actually separates them

P-K's submittal prints the N2500MFD at 2,500,000 BTU/hr input / 2,123,000 BTU/hr output with a 500,000 BTU/hr minimum and 5:1 turndown, and the N3000MFD at 3,000,000 / 2,547,000 with the same 500,000 BTU/hr minimum and 6:1 turndown — the deepest in the line.

Connections and design data are shared: 2" NPT-F gas, 3"-150# ANSI flanged supply/return, 160 psig maximum pressure, 250°F maximum allowable temperature, 220°F maximum setpoint, 65.7 and 78.9 boiler HP and 357 sq. ft. of heated wet surface.

The physical difference is small — 1,185 lb operating weight on both, with the N3000's shipping box 2" taller at 54" × 32" × 70" — but flow rises from 212.3 to 254.7 GPM at 20°F ΔT, so near-boiler piping and pump selection must follow the larger unit. Both require Category II or IV venting.
