What actually separates them

The two middle CI2 models share everything except the firing range: both weigh 963 lb (437 kg), hold 50 USG of boiler water content per the technical data manual and use the 6-inch flue and combustion-air collars of the middle chassis.

Input is where they part ways. The 750 fires 75,000 to 750,000 BTU (22.0 to 220 kW); the 1000 fires from a higher 100,000 BTU (29.3 kW) minimum up to 1,000,000 BTU (293 kW) maximum — the extra 250 MBH of ceiling at the cost of a 25,000 BTU higher floor. The printed combustion-efficiency rows sit a tenth apart: 96.9% for the 750, 96.8% for the 1000.

Both share the CI2 platform's Inox-Crossal heat exchanger, MatriX cylinder burner with Lambda PrO₂ trim, Viessmann One Base controls, up to 30:1 marketed turndown and no-required-primary-pump design. Because the chassis and water content are identical, the decision is purely the design load: if the plant needs more than 750 MBH per boiler, the 1000 provides it with no footprint penalty.
