IBC SFT-1 F000 — Heat exchanger temperature sensor fault

F000

Needs attentionIBC Superflow SFT-1 tankless water heater with the numeric-display control

The controller has detected a fault in the heat exchanger temperature sensor circuit. The sensor's reading is no longer trusted, so the controller can misjudge or stop firing.

Applies to

This fault is shown by the numeric-display touch panel control on Superflow SFT-1 tankless water heaters (SFT 199-1), as documented in IBC Installation & Operating Instructions — SFT 199-1 tankless water heater, doc 84160406, sections 5.3.1–5.3.3.

Controller: numeric-display touch panel control. Source manual: 84160406 (2024-09).

Why a code is not a diagnosis

A sensor fault can be the sensor itself, a loose harness connection, or damaged wiring; the system water temperature may be perfectly normal. The manual's first step is verifying the harness connections at the sensor and control module.

Safe things to observe

  • Note the code and whether the appliance stopped firing.
  • If the appliance is a combi and heating still works, watch for the code returning before calling.
  • If you smell gas or a CO alarm sounds, follow the emergency steps first.

Do not

  • Do not open the appliance to test sensors yourself.

How professional service helps

  1. A technician verifies the harness connections and measures the sensor's resistance against the manual's values.
  2. The heat exchanger temperature sensor is replaced if the circuit is faulty.
