About the Superflow SFT-1 Tankless

The SFT-1 is not a boiler and does not heat rooms. It is a condensing tankless water heater that fires only when a hot-water tap opens, and it is documented here because it is the appliance IBC pairs with its heating-only boilers (SL and VX) to supply domestic hot water, and because its fault codes are documented in the same Superflow manual family as the SFC combi.

The single Canadian model, the SFT 199-1, modulates from 28,500 to 199,000 BTU/h input and delivers up to about 10 gallons per minute at a 35°F temperature rise, or about 5.2 GPM at a 70°F rise, per IBC's Canadian product page. Efficiency is published as 0.90 UEF rather than an AFUE figure because the appliance serves only water heating.

IBC markets the SFT-1 around hard-water resistance, pointing to a labyrinth heat exchanger with an integrated copper coil. Installation is indoor wall-hung, direct-vent only, on 2" or 3" PVC, CPVC or PPs. In British Columbia venting must meet ULC S636 where local codes require it, and the unit needs a condensate drain like any condensing appliance.

Frequently asked questions

Is the SFT-1 a combi boiler?

No. The SFT-1 is a condensing tankless water heater that produces domestic hot water only. IBC's combi offering is the SFC-1; its heating-only boilers (SL and VX) are paired with an indirect tank instead.

Which SFT model is sold in Canada?

IBC's Canadian site lists the SFT 199-1, rated from 28,500 to 199,000 BTU/h input with a 0.90 UEF efficiency rating.

Does the SFT-1 need special venting?

It is a direct-vent condensing appliance: 2" or 3" Schedule 40 PVC, CPVC or PPs, up to 65 equivalent feet in 2" or 120 in 3" per side, with condensate drained like a boiler.
