Lochinvar Epic EPC150N in practice
The Epic EPC150N is the 150 MBH wall-mounted combination boiler of Lochinvar's Epic fire-tube condensing line. The printed submittal rating table lists 15-150 MBH input, 95% AFUE, 139 MBH DOE heating capacity and a 121 MBH net AHRI water rating at a piping and pickup allowance of 1.15, with a 1/2" gas connection, 1" water connection and 3" air and 3" vent sizes.
As a combination boiler it produces domestic hot water on demand — 3.6 gpm at a 77°F rise per the submittal — through the same fire-tube platform, with the SMART CONTROL managing DHW priority. The Epic uses an ASME stainless steel heat exchanger, a universal vent adapter for PVC, polypropylene or stainless steel venting, 10:1 turndown and the SMART CONTROL with plain-language faults, and the product pages print a 10-year limited heat exchanger warranty with 5-year parts coverage.
Best suited to
- Homes whose heat-loss calculation matches 150 MBH input
- Households that want space heating and domestic hot water from one appliance
- Retrofits replacing a wall-hung or floor-standing condensing boiler
