About the Simplicity

The Simplicity is a high-efficiency condensing boiler that the CA product page describes as able to operate as a heat-only or as a combi unit: every model carries a stainless steel firetube heat exchanger plus a DHW brazed plate heat exchanger, a built-in circulator and a 10:1 turndown blower, so the same appliance can run pure heating now and switch to combi duty later when a water heater is retired.

Three sizes — Simplicity 110-C, 150-C and 199-C — fire at 110, 150 and 199 MBH input with 95% AFUE, and the brochure publishes DHW flow of 2.9, 4.0 and 5.3 GPM at a 70°F rise respectively. The 110 and 150 share a 16" x 20" x 34" cabinet and 3/4" heating connections; the 199 grows to 20" x 20" x 34" with 1" heating connections and 3/4" DHW connections.

Venting is 2" or 3" Category IV pipe to 100 equivalent feet (50 feet in 2" on the 199), and the control is a text-based colour touchscreen with a setup wizard — the brochure emphasizes "text-based control — no codes to figure out." The CA page's up-to-95% AFUE claim matches the manual ratings, and the boiler is Bluetooth-ready for the Weil-McLain ProTools app.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Simplicity a combi boiler or a heating-only boiler?

It can be either. Every Simplicity model includes a DHW brazed plate heat exchanger and can run as a combi for heat plus hot water, or as a heat-only boiler with hot water handled separately — the CA page markets exactly that flexibility.

What sizes does the Simplicity come in?

Three sizes: 110-C, 150-C and 199-C at 110, 150 and 199 MBH input, all rated 95% AFUE with published DHW flow of 2.9, 4.0 and 5.3 GPM at a 70°F rise.

How are Simplicity faults reported?

The Simplicity's colour touchscreen shows text fault names and messages — the brochure states "text-based control — no codes to figure out." The boiler manual documents the fault list and corrective actions.
