60F > RETURN

LockoutWeil-McLain Simplicity (display fault messages and warnings, manual 550-143-073)

Boiler Out temperature more than 60° F above Boiler In temperature. Boiler Out temperatures were greater than the Boiler In temperature by more than 60° F, or the burner had been on for less than 2 minutes. The table classifies it as The first time a lockout occurs, the time to clear is 2 minutes 30 seconds. The second time a lockout occurs it's a 3 minutes 30 second lockout. The third time, its 4 minutes 30 seconds, the fourth time its 5 minutes 30 seconds. The fifth time its 6 minutes 30 seconds. The system will retry, indefinitely, every 6 minutes 30 seconds as long as the temperatures return to being < 60 degrees. If the burner first for at least 2 minutes without the temperature difference exceeding 60 degrees, the time condition for the > 60 degree soft lockout is reset back to the minimum value of 2 minutes 30 seconds..

Applies to

This fault code is displayed by the Simplicity control (display messages) on Simplicity models (110, 150, 199), as documented in Simplicity Boiler Manual, doc 550-143-073/0125 (550-143-073/0125). Codes can differ between controller generations, so always check the manual that matches your unit.

Controller: Simplicity control (display messages). Source manual: 550-143-073/0125 (2025-01).

Why a code is not a diagnosis

The code reports the condition the control detected; the underlying cause must be confirmed on site by a licensed technician using the manufacturer's procedure.

Safe things to observe

  • Note the exact code, when it appears and what the appliance was doing.
  • If the appliance has stopped, call a technician rather than repeatedly restarting it.
  • If you smell gas, stop, go outside and call your gas utility's emergency line or 911 before anything else.

Do not

  • Do not ignore a code that returns after a reset.

How professional service helps

  1. A licensed technician diagnoses the cause with the manufacturer's test procedure.
  2. Combustion and safety devices are verified with an analyser and the manufacturer's procedure after any repair.
