What actually separates them

Both are wall-hung condensing combis at 95% AFUE (Lochinvar prints 95.0%) with a 199 MBH DHW-class input, but the space-heating envelopes differ sharply. IBC publishes the SFC 199-1's heating input at 28.5 to 125 MBH with 199 MBH reserved for DHW, while Lochinvar lists the Noble NKC199 at 19.9 to 199 MBH heating input with a 185 MBH DOE heating capacity — meaning the Noble can cover heating loads the SFC simply cannot reach.

On the DHW side IBC's numbers lead: 5.0 GPM continuous delivery at a 67°F rise and a 7 GPM maximum DHW flow for the SFC 199-1, against the Noble's on-demand DHW through 3/4" connections with no GPM delivery figure in its ratings table. Buyers with high simultaneous draws get more certainty from the IBC's published GPM, while buyers with a large heating load need the Noble's input range regardless.

Installation details differ too: the SFC 199-1 weighs 84 lb (38 kg) with 1" heating connections, 3/4" DHW and gas connections, and vents 2" to 65 feet or 3" to 120 feet per side; the NKC199 keeps 1" NPT water on the combi with 3/4" DHW and 1/2" gas, and vents 2" to 50 feet or 3" to 100 feet. A heat-loss calculation first, then the DHW draw, decides which compromise fits.
