What actually separates them

Both boilers carry a 95% AFUE rating, natural-gas-or-propane operation and a DHW input that reaches the 199 MBH class, but the heating-side story diverges. IBC publishes the SFC 199-1 with space-heating input of 28.5 to 125 MBH (its DHW input is 199 MBH), while NTI lists the TRX199C at 19.7 to 197 MBH on natural gas and 19.2 to 192 MBH on propane — roughly 70 MBH more heating capacity for large homes that still want one appliance.

The DHW ratings trade places depending on basis: IBC publishes 5.0 GPM continuous at a 67°F rise with a 7 GPM maximum DHW flow, while NTI publishes 4.8 GPM continuous at a 77°F rise. The IBC figures are the higher-flow claim, but the two makers use different rise assumptions, and neither figure replaces a fixture-by-fixture hot-water demand check.

Physically the SFC 199-1 is the lighter unit at 84 lb (38 kg) with 1" heating connections and 65 feet of 2" or 120 feet of 3" venting per side, while the TRX199C weighs 135 lb, steps up to 1 1/4" NPT heating connections, and vents 2" to 100 feet or 3" to 150 feet per side (its 2" terms follow an NTI technical bulletin). Both need gas supply sized for the DHW draw, and both are chosen from a heat-loss calculation plus hot-water demand.
