What actually separates them

Both are wall-hung combis that produce domestic hot water in the appliance, and both list natural gas or propane with a conversion kit. IBC rates the SFC 99-1 at 96% AFUE and caps its heating input at 99 MBH (29.0 kW), while NTI lists the FTVN110C at 95% AFUE with an 11 to 110 MBH heating range — about 11 MBH more heating headroom and a lower 11 MBH minimum fire on the NTI side.

Hot water is where the two philosophies show: IBC publishes 2.4 GPM continuous DHW delivery at a 70°F rise for the SFC 99-1 with a 4 GPM maximum DHW flow, while NTI publishes 2.7 GPM continuous at a 77°F rise for the FTVN110C. Both figures are continuous ratings at stated rises, so the practical test is whether simultaneous bathroom draws stay under the published flow at the home's incoming water temperature.
