What actually separates them

Both are compact, heating-only condensing boilers with built-in multi-zone control and a direct-connected indirect tank option. The 150's extra output (138.5 vs 101.5 MBH CSA maximum) is the main reason to move up, and both are rated to 50 psig maximum operating pressure.

The minimum fire rates also move: 16.9 MBH on the 110 versus 23 MBH on the 150. In a home with a modest load, the 110 tracks mild weather better; the 150 is only an advantage when the calculated load actually needs it.

Venting is the practical differentiator for retrofit planning: the 110 allows 100 equivalent feet of 2" and 240 of 3" per side, while the 150 drops to 50 and 170 feet. Weight rises from 67 to 78 lb.

Which VX boiler allows longer vent runs?

The VX 110: up to 240 equivalent feet in 3" or 100 in 2" per side. The VX 150 allows 170 feet in 3" or 50 in 2".

Are both rated for the same pressure?

Yes, both are listed at 50 psig maximum operating pressure; the larger VX 199 is rated 30 psig.

When should I pick the VX 150?

When the heat-loss calculation exceeds the 110's output. Extra capacity without a load to match just raises the minimum fire rate and reduces condensing time.
