What actually separates them

At the top of the residential range the NTH210 and NTH285 share the parts architecture of the large columns — blower, heat exchanger and gas train components that the parts list distinguishes from the smaller sizes — plus the same operator interface, diagnostics menus and Hold/Lockout code tables in Documents 1252K and 1291.

Both support the lead-lag staging menus and the anti-short-cycle hold behaviour described in the manual, and both are boiler models whose water-heating counterparts are the NTV units documented alongside them. The 285 column is the ceiling of the residential 080-285 specification.
