Laars NTH285
The Laars NTH285 is the largest NeoTherm Residential boiler: a floor-standing modulating condensing unit at the 285 top of the 080-285 MBTU/h range, on the numeric Hold/Lockout code system of Document 1252K.

Laars NTH285 in practice
The NTH285 is the top column of the NeoTherm Residential parts list — the largest size in the 080-285 MBTU/h range covered by the I&O manual (Document 1252K) — and the point where residential NeoTherm capacity ends and the commercial NeoTherm lines (NTH 399-850, NeoTherm XTR 399-1500) begin.
It runs the same operator interface and numeric Hold/Lockout code system: Appendix B of Document 1252K lists the codes from internal faults and the safety chain through high-limit, delta-T, stack and sensor entries, and the service manual (Document 1291) repeats them as Appendix 1. Its parts list shares many assemblies with the NTH210 while scaling the heat exchanger, blower and gas train.
Best suited to
- The largest homes and light commercial plants in the residential NeoTherm range
- Heating loads that approach 285 MBH without stepping into commercial NeoTherm sizes
- Floor-standing installations wanting the full residential NTH specification

Frequently asked questions
What happens beyond the NTH285?
The residential NeoTherm manual ends at 285 MBTU/h. Larger loads move to Laars' commercial lines, documented separately: NeoTherm NTH 399-850 / NTV 285-850 (Document 1330M) and NeoTherm XTR NT2H/NT2V 399-1500 (Document 1475C), with their own code tables.
Are NTH285 codes the same as the commercial NeoTherm codes?
No. The residential NTH 080-285 uses the tables in Documents 1252K and 1291; the commercial touchscreen units are separate products with different controls and code sets, so codes must never be read across the two ranges.
Can the NTH285 be serviced from the same manual as smaller NTH models?
Yes. Document 1252K covers Model NTH 080-285 and Document 1291 covers the same range (plus the NTV 150-285 water heaters), so the NTH285 shares its manual with the rest of the residential line.
