Comparison

NTI Trinity FTVN110 vs FTVN150

Verdict in brief

The FTVN110 and FTVN150 are both 95% AFUE heating-only FTVN boilers, and the 150 buys 40 MBH of ceiling (150 vs 110 MBH) at the cost of 15 lb more weight and a minimum fire that rises from 11 to 15 MBH. Both keep the same connections and the 2" venting option, so the heat-loss calculation decides.

What actually separates them

Both models run the same FTVN platform at 95% AFUE with 1 1/4" NPT CH connections, 3/4" NPT gas and identical venting options — 2" to 100 ft or 3" to 150 ft per side. The published differences are input range and weight: 11 to 110 MBH at 107 lb for the 110, 15 to 150 MBH at 122 lb for the 150.

The minimum fire steps from 11 to 15 MBH between the two models, which is modest but real: in a home whose load sits near the 110's ceiling, the 150 can still modulate acceptably, while in a small low-load house the 110 tracks mild weather better.

Neither boiler produces domestic hot water, so the indirect tank or separate water heater is common to both. The 150 is justified when the heat-loss calculation plus recovery demand genuinely exceeds 110 MBH; below that, the lighter 110 delivers the same condensing technology at a lower minimum fire.

Frequently asked questions

What does the FTVN150 add over the FTVN110?

Input rises from 110 to 150 MBH, but weight rises from 107 to 122 lb and the minimum fire from 11 to 15 MBH. AFUE, connections and venting are unchanged at 95%.

Do both models allow 2" venting?

Yes — both vent in 2" pipe to 100 ft or 3" pipe to 150 ft per side, with no 199-model restriction on either.

When is the FTVN150 the right choice?

When the room-by-room heat-loss calculation plus indirect-tank demand exceeds 110 MBH. Sizing beyond the calculated load reduces steady condensing time in mild weather.
