What actually separates them

Both combis run the FTVN platform at 95% AFUE with an integrated DHW plate, 1 1/4" NPT CH connections, 3/4" NPT DHW connections and the same venting — 2" to 100 ft or 3" to 150 ft per side. The differences are capacity: the 110C heats at 11 to 110 MBH and the 150C at 15 to 150 MBH.

NTI rates continuous DHW at 2.7 GPM for the 110C and 3.6 GPM for the 150C, both at a 77°F rise — the 150C adds a third more hot-water headroom, which is the usual reason to step up. The cost is physical: 128.5 lb against 107 lb, and a minimum fire of 15 MBH instead of 11.

For a BC household the two models split at the DHW and load calculation: homes whose simultaneous or back-to-back draws exceed 2.7 GPM continuous, or whose heat loss exceeds 110 MBH, justify the 150C; compact homes under both thresholds keep the lighter 110C with its lower minimum fire.
