Weil-McLain Evergreen EVG-110 vs EVG-155

Verdict in brief

The EVG-110 and EVG-155 are the two sizes of the 110-155 Evergreen platform: both use 3" venting only, modulate 5:1 and need no altitude changes to 5,500 ft. The 155 adds 45 MBH of input and is the line's only 95.1% AFUE model, at 145 lb against 125 lb shipping weight.

What actually separates them

Both models run the 110-155 Evergreen platform documented by boiler manual 550-100-210/D_1222: 3" vent/air piping only, 5:1 turndown, 100-foot vent and air runs, and no altitude modifications up to 5,500 ft.

The 155 steps input from 110 to 155 MBH, DOE heating capacity from 101 to 143 MBH and the net AHRI rating from 88 to 124 MBH. It also carries the platform's — and the whole Evergreen line's — top efficiency figure at 95.1% AFUE against 95.0% on the 110.

Water content grows from 2.5 to 3.2 gallons and connections step from 1" to 1-1/4" NPT supply and return tappings, while gas stays at 1/2" NPT on both. A heat-loss calculation decides: below about 100 MBH of output need, the 110 behaves identically at a lower entry point.

Which Evergreen size is most efficient?

The EVG-155 at 95.1% AFUE — the highest DOE figure in the Evergreen line. The 110 is rated 95.0%.

Can either of these sizes vent in 2" pipe?

No. The Evergreen 110 and 155 use 3" pipe only, to 100 feet each for vent and air.

When is the EVG-155 worth the step up?

When the heat-loss calculation approaches the 110's output ceiling, or when the 1-1/4" piping and extra 45 MBH of headroom are part of the system plan.
