Bradford White Brute

The Brute line currently available in Canada is the Brute FT (BFTHW): condensing, wall-hung boiler-type units in two sizes — BFTHW-301 and BFTHW-399, with a floor-stand option — the only Brute products Bradford White's official Canada catalogue lists; every other Brute boiler and volume-water-heater line is marked 'No Longer Available in Canada'.

The Brute FT boiler-type models listed for Canada (BFTHW-301 and BFTHW-399) print AHRI certified efficiencies of 95.4% and 95.9% combustion with 95.1% and 95.4% thermal respectively; the catalogue copy states 95%+ AHRI certified thermal and combustion efficiencies.

About the Brute

Bradford White's official Canada catalogue (2026) lists exactly one Brute product family: 'Brute FT Wall-Hung & Floor Standing Boilers (BFTHW)', with model numbers BFTHW-301 and BFTHW-399. Both are boiler-type condensing units — sealed-combustion, heating-only hydronic boilers with a wall-hung chassis and optional floor stand — printing 95%+ AHRI certified thermal and combustion efficiencies (95.4% and 95.9% combustion with 95.1% and 95.4% thermal as printed for the two sizes) and carrying the stainless steel heat exchanger with 10-year limited warranty.

The same Canada catalogue marks every other Brute line 'No Longer Available in Canada' — the Brute Deluxe hydronic boilers and volume water heaters (200-400 and 500-2000), Brute Series hydronic and volume units (BNTH/BNTV, including the 150-850 and 285-1200 ranges), and the Brute Magnatech HTD and Series (hydronic and volume) and Copper Brute II configurations. Boilers.ca therefore documents the two Brute FT models at model level and treats the rest of the Brute family as US-catalogue history for Canadian buyers. The Brute XTR hydronic line is a separate case: it has no card on the Canada catalogue card grid at all — neither an 'available' card like the Brute FT nor a 'No Longer Available in Canada' marker — although a full Brute XTR product page exists under the Canada catalogue directory (a mismatch flagged in the batch8 research and documented on the dedicated Brute XTR hub).

The Brute FT units connect with 1½" NPT system supply and return and 1" NPT gas, are rated 80 psig MAWP (ASME "H" stamp) with a 30 psi ASME pressure relief valve, vent as Category IV sealed combustion in 3" (to 65 equivalent ft) or 4" (to 150 equivalent ft), and run the NGTB-1000C control with outdoor reset and cascade of up to four units. They are heating-only boilers — not combis — supporting an indirect tank through DHW sensor logic. canadianStatus is recorded 'available' on the strength of the official Canada catalogue listing for BFTHW-301 and BFTHW-399, with availability confirmed through Bradford White Canada or its corporate group's Laars Canada operation (Halton Hills, Ontario); installation, propane conversion, venting and code compliance (CAN/CSA B149.1 and related provincial codes) belong to a licensed contractor.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Brute line available in Canada?

Two models are: the Brute FT boiler-type condensing units BFTHW-301 and BFTHW-399, listed on Bradford White's official Canada catalogue. The catalogue marks every other Brute line 'No Longer Available in Canada', so Boilers.ca records this series 'available' for the two BFTHW sizes only.

Is Brute a residential or a commercial line?

The Brute FT BFTHW-301 and BFTHW-399 suit both residential and light-commercial hydronic loads (applications 'residential' and 'commercial'); wall-hung with a floor-stand option, they are heating-only boiler-type units paired with an indirect tank. Match the size to a heat-loss calculation.

Is the Brute FT a combi boiler?

No. The Brute FT BFTHW models are heating-only hydronic boilers — domestic hot water comes from a separate indirect tank, which the boiler supports through DHW sensor logic, and the combi-style variants of the Brute family are not part of the current Canada catalogue.
