Burnham Alta Combi ALTAC-200 in practice
The ALTAC-200 is the largest Alta and the only model whose printed numbers reach 200 MBH — on the DHW side (20.0–200 MBH DHW input). Its heating duty is 20–150 MBH input for 141 MBH heating capacity and a 123 MBH net AHRI water rating at 95.0% AFUE, per the official Alta Product Data Sheet ratings table (5/26 print). DHW rates print at 5.2 GPM for a 70°F rise and 4.7 GPM at 77°F.
As the top combi it carries the integrated DHW hydro block with flat plate heat exchanger, the included Alta FastPipe header (1-1/4" connections), a Grundfos UPS-78 Special circulator, and the OneTouch control — the product page calls the Alta combi 'the world's first 10:1, gas adaptive combi boiler' with '10:1 DHW turndown'. Boiler weight is 116 lb in the 20.4 in-deep chassis (the largest depth in the line).
No heating-only ALTA-200 exists in the official ratings table — the 200 designation belongs to the combi — so buyers needing a straight 200 MBH heat-only unit should look at the ALTA-180 ceiling or a commercial line. Sizing the shared heating/DHW input is licensed-contractor work.
All installation, gas, combustion and venting work belongs with a licensed contractor, sized from a heat-loss calculation. Canadian buyers should confirm supply and CSA/code compliance for the specific model before purchase, since usboiler.net prints no Canadian availability statement.
Best suited to
- Larger homes and high-DHW-demand households wanting one wall-hung appliance
- Projects whose DHW needs approach 5.2 GPM at a 70°F rise
- Owners wanting the top Alta input (200 MBH DHW) with 95.0% AFUE and OneTouch commissioning

Frequently asked questions
What are the ALTAC-200's ratings?
95.0% AFUE; 20–150 MBH heating input; 141 MBH heating capacity; 123 MBH net AHRI; 20.0–200 MBH DHW input at 5.2 GPM (70°F rise) / 4.7 GPM (77°F rise), per the Alta Product Data Sheet.
Is there a heating-only ALTA-200?
No. The PDS ratings table prints no ALTA-200 heat-only model — only the ALTAC-200 combi; the top heating-only size is the ALTA-180.
How does the ALTAC-200 differ from the ALTAC-136B?
Heating input rises from 13.6–120 to 20–150 MBH, DHW input from 13.6–136 to 20.0–200 MBH, DHW rate from 3.7 to 5.2 GPM (70°F rise), and boiler weight from 95 to 116 lb in the deeper 20.4 in chassis.
