96.0% AFUE printed on the RPTR085HB and RPTR110HB (ENERGY STAR certified) and 95.0% on the RPTR155HB/RPTR205HB/RPTR270HB heat-only models and the RPTR155CB combi; the literature headlines 'up to 96% AFUE'.

About the Raptor

The Raptor is Crown's (Velocity Boiler Works) first fire-tube design: a stainless-steel, gas-fired condensing boiler for natural or LP gas that the product page rates at 'up to 96% AFUE', offered in five heat-only sizes — 85, 110, 155, 205 and 270 MBH — plus a 155 MBH combi model featuring a thermostatic mixing valve and brazed plate heat exchanger. All Raptors include a touchscreen interface, a 10:1 turndown ratio and an outdoor reset function per the product page, and the literature describes the Honeywell Sola control system with LCD touch screen display, built-in self diagnostics, three circulator outputs and a built-in sequencer for up to 8 boilers.

The ratings table (product page; I&O manual Table 2.3) prints, per model, maximum/minimum input (85/8.5 through 270/27 MBH), DOE heating capacity (79–252 MBH), net AHRI water rating (69–219 MBH, 1.15 allowance), AFUE (96.0% on the 085/110, 95.0% elsewhere), water volume (2.5–5.1 gallons), MAWP (30 psig on the 085–155 sizes, 80 psig on the 205/270), 1" or 1-1/4" copper-sweat water connections, 1/2" NPT gas connection and approximate net weight (110–145 lb). The Raptor Combi (RPTR155CB per the I&O manual ratings; the product page prints RPTRC155CB) shares the 155 MBH ratings with the RPTR155HB.

The boilers are designed for installation on a wall (pre-installed hanging bracket and wall-mount kit per the literature; floor stand kit optional) and vent directly in 2" or 3" pipe to a 135 ft maximum equivalent length (60 ft in 2"), with a minimum vent length of 30 ft. Boilers.ca documents all six models at model level. No official Canadian-sales statement was found, so canadianStatus stays 'unknown'; installation, gas and venting work belongs with a licensed contractor.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Raptor available in Canada?

No official Canadian-sales statement was found on the official pages checked on September 9, 2026, so canadianStatus is recorded as 'unknown'. The I&O manual notes Canadian installations must follow the B149.1 Installation Code.

What is the difference between the Raptor and the Raptor Combi?

The combi model (RPTR155CB in the I&O manual ratings, printed RPTRC155CB on the product page) adds tankless domestic hot water through a thermostatic mixing valve and brazed plate heat exchanger; space-heating ratings are the same as the RPTR155HB.

How does the Raptor differ from the Phantom II?

The Raptor is Crown's stainless-steel fire-tube condensing line from 85 to 270 MBH with a combi option and a Sola-family touchscreen control; the Phantom II is the smaller (80–180 MBH) gas-adaptive heat-only/combi line on the 'PHTM II' control.
