Laars NTH080 in practice
The NTH080 is the 80 column of the NeoTherm Residential parts list and the entry model of the modulating NTH line, which the I&O manual (Document 1252K) covers from sizes 080 to 285 MBTU/h. It is a floor-standing condensing boiler with a menu-driven operator interface and a dual-thermistor outlet temperature sensor whose high limit is factory set at 195°F.
Codes are numeric and classified Hold or Lockout in Appendix B (page 72 of Document 1252K) — from internal fault codes through pump, fan and safety-chain entries such as code 63, to high-limit, delta-T, stack and sensor codes in the 70s and 90s. The same list appears as Appendix 1 of the service manual, Document 1291, with service-section references for each code.
Best suited to
- Homes and light commercial spaces whose heat loss fits the 080 size step
- Systems wanting the NeoTherm Residential control and code set at the smallest input
- Floor-standing installations where the NTH080's smaller footprint suits the room

Frequently asked questions
How are NTH080 codes reported?
The operator interface shows the code at the start of a Hold or Lockout message; Appendix B of Document 1252K (page 72) and Appendix 1 of Document 1291 list each code with its Hold/Lockout class and corrective procedure.
What is the difference between a Hold and a Lockout?
Per the manual, a Hold lets the unit retry when the condition clears and is never a lockout fault for hold-only codes such as anti-short-cycle (61) and fan-not-proved (62); a Lockout stops the unit until the condition is resolved. Some codes can be either.
Can the NTH080 supply domestic hot water?
The NTH is the boiler of the residential NeoTherm pair, and its error table includes DHW-side entries (DHW high limit 80, DHW sensor 93), so DHW functions are part of the control's design. The service manual pairs the NTH boiler with Laars' NTV water heater models at 150-285.
