Viessmann Vitodens 200-W B2HE-85 in practice
The B2HE-85 brings the flagship 200-W platform to the small end of the range: 8.5 to 85 MBH input (2.5 to 24.9 kW) at 95% AFUE, with the 7-inch colour touchscreen, built-in WiFi and up to four heating circuit connections of the B2HE series. Its 8.5 MBH minimum fire is the lowest in the series, matching the small steady loads of tight, well-insulated homes.
It is heating-only — Viessmann Canada lists no combi version of the B2HE — so domestic hot water is handled separately, typically with an indirect tank. At 108 lb (49 kg) and 17.75 x 19.75 x 33.75 inches, it shares its cabinet and handling plan with the B2HE-120.
On the 200-W platform, Lambda Pro Plus adjusts combustion to gas quality and vent length, commissioning runs from the on-board assistant or ViGuide app, and the page lists venting up to about 198 ft (60 m). The choice between the 85 and the 120 is input ceiling, not size: both fire down to 8.5 MBH.
Best suited to
- Compact homes whose heat-loss calculation fits below 85 MBH
- Homeowners who want the 200-W touchscreen and control features in a small boiler
- Low-load houses where the 8.5 MBH minimum fire matters in shoulder seasons

Frequently asked questions
Is the B2HE-85 a combi boiler?
No. All B2HE models are heating-only; the series has no combi version on the Canadian page. Domestic hot water is handled separately, typically with an indirect tank.
How does the B2HE-85 differ from the B2HE-120?
Both fire down to 8.5 MBH minimum, weigh 108 lb and share the same cabinet. The 85 caps input at 85 MBH and the 120 at 120 MBH, so the heat-loss calculation chooses the ceiling.
Can the B2HE-85 run on propane?
Yes. Viessmann Canada lists natural gas or liquid propane for the series with no fuel-conversion kit required; the page's minimum inputs are natural-gas figures.
