IBC SFC-1 F002 — High heat exchanger temperature during DHW demand
F002
The controller detected the heat exchanger temperature rising too high while the appliance was producing domestic hot water. The unit stops to protect the heat exchanger and DHW coil.
Applies to
This fault is shown by the numeric-display touch panel control on Superflow SFC-1 combi boilers (SFC 99-1, SFC 125-1 and SFC 199-1), as documented in IBC Installation & Operating Instructions — SFC-1 combi boilers, doc 84156406, sections 5.3.1–5.3.3.

Why a code is not a diagnosis
Possible causes include insufficient DHW flow, a blocked or scaled DHW coil, combustion set too high, or operation on the wrong fuel (the manual checks the propane conversion). The code does not identify which.
Safe things to observe
- Note the code and whether hot-water flow from the taps seems weak or blocked.
- If the code appears right after a long draw, reduced flow from a strainer or scale may be involved.
Do not
- Do not repeatedly reset the unit while the DHW flow problem is unresolved.
- Do not open the appliance or clean coils yourself.
How professional service helps
- A technician verifies the fuel conversion, combustion readings at low and high fire, and DHW flow.
- The DHW coil and fire side of the heat exchanger are cleaned; a blocked strainer or filter is cleared.

Parts and service
Parts commonly involved
These parts appear in the documented text for this alert. A code reports a condition, not a failed part — a technician confirms the cause by testing before anything is replaced.
Heat exchanger
The heat exchanger is where a boiler transfers heat from the burner flame to the water that heats your home.
