IBC VX “Inlet pressure sensor” alert
Error – Inlet Pres. Sensor
The manual lists this alert when the inlet water-pressure sensor appears shorted or disconnected. The control can no longer trust its water-pressure reading, so it flags the sensor rather than relying on a possibly wrong number.
Applies to
This alert is shown by the V-10 touchscreen controller on VX Series residential boilers (VX 110, VX 150 and VX 199), as documented in IBC Installation & Operating Manual — VX 110 / VX 150 / VX 199, doc 120-347E6, sections 9.2–9.4.
Controller: V-10 touchscreen controller. Source manual: 120-347E6 (2026-08-07).
Why a code is not a diagnosis
A sensor alert can be a genuine sensor failure, a loose or damaged wire, or a connector problem — or, more rarely, a control-module fault. The water pressure in the system may be perfectly normal; the electronics are the suspect.
Safe things to observe
- Note the alert text and observe the pressure gauge if the system has one (the gauge and the sensor are separate devices).
- If the mechanical gauge reads normally and there are no leaks, the issue is likely the sensor circuit.
- If there are leaks or the system is visibly low on water, treat it as a low-pressure situation and call a technician.
Do not
- Do not attempt to test or replace the pressure sensor yourself.
- Do not keep resetting the alert without the sensor circuit being checked.
How professional service helps
- A technician checks the sensor wiring and connector for damage or corrosion.
- The sensor's resistance is measured against the manual's values and the sensor is replaced if faulty.
- The control is verified after replacement by comparing its reading with a mechanical gauge.

Parts and service
Parts commonly involved
These parts appear in the documented text for this alert. A code reports a condition, not a failed part — a technician confirms the cause by testing before anything is replaced.
Water pressure sensor
The water pressure sensor is the electronic gauge that tells a modern boiler's control how much pressure the heating loop is under.
