Peerless PureFire PF-50 in practice

The PureFire PF-50 is a stainless-steel, condensing, sealed-combustion direct-vent gas boiler rated at 16–50 MBH input. Its rating row prints 47 MBH heating capacity and a 41 MBH net water rating (1.15 piping and pickup allowance) at 95% AFUE in I&O manual Table 12.2 (PF8248-R9) and the residential cut sheet (CUT-PF R11).

The boiler ships in a 21" × 16" × 36" carton at about 88 lb, measures 13-3/4" × 17-3/16" × 29-1/2" (A × B × C) per the dimension table, connects on 1" NPT supply/return with 1/2" NPT gas, and runs on 120 VAC/60 Hz. Venting is 3" exhaust/air intake (PVC, CPVC, AL29-4C stainless or polypropylene) to a 200-equivalent-foot maximum combined length. The PureFire control shows status in plain English on an LCD, ignition is direct spark, and the product page claims ENERGY STAR certification (the PF-300 excepted) with a 12-year heat exchanger warranty.

Boilers.ca documents this size at model level for service planning and cross-referencing; installation, gas, electrical and venting work belongs with a licensed contractor. No official Canadian-sales statement was found, so canadianStatus stays 'unknown'.

Best suited to

  • 16-to-50 MBH residential heat-loss loads
  • Homes pairing the boiler with an indirect water heater for domestic hot water
  • Buyers comparing the PureFire residential sizes on the shared cut sheet

Frequently asked questions

What are the PF-50's ratings?

16–50 MBH input, 47 MBH heating capacity and a 41 MBH net water rating at 95% AFUE per the ratings table.

Is the PF-50 ENERGY STAR certified?

Yes — the product page states the PureFire is ENERGY STAR certified, with one exception: the PF-300 model is not ENERGY STAR certified.

Why do the PF-300 and PF-399 print different efficiency figures?

Their rows print gross output and thermal efficiency (96.5% and 95.2%) instead of AFUE — the commercial rating convention used for the shared cut sheet's PF-300/PF-399/PFC-460 rows.
