IBC SFC-1 F005 — No flame detected during operation

F005

LockoutIBC Superflow SFC-1 combi boilers with the numeric-display control

The appliance was firing and the controller then lost the flame signal during operation. The unit stops rather than continue without a proven flame.

Applies to

This fault is shown by the numeric-display touch panel control on Superflow SFC-1 combi boilers (SFC 99-1, SFC 125-1 and SFC 199-1), as documented in IBC Installation & Operating Instructions — SFC-1 combi boilers, doc 84156406, sections 5.3.1–5.3.3.

Controller: numeric-display touch panel control. Source manual: 84156406 (2024-09).

Why a code is not a diagnosis

A flame lost mid-run can be a blocked condensate drain, blocked or recirculating venting, high winds at the terminal, gas pressure dropping at low or high fire, or a fouled ignitor/sensor. The code does not say which.

Safe things to observe

  • Note the code and whether high winds or heavy rain coincided with the failure.
  • From a safe distance check the vent terminal for blockage or debris.
  • If you smell gas or a CO alarm sounds, follow the emergency steps first.

Do not

  • Do not keep resetting while the cause is unknown.
  • Do not touch gas or ignition components.

How professional service helps

  1. A technician checks the condensate drain, vent path and termination, gas pressure at low and high fire, and combustion readings.
  2. The ignitor is cleaned or replaced and the unit is run through full firing to confirm the flame holds.
