About the EX Series

IBC describes the EX Series as a floor-mounted commercial condensing boiler with an intuitive touchscreen control, remote access, multi-boiler communication, 10:1 turndown and up to 97.9% thermal efficiency. Four models are published: EX 400, EX 500, EX 700 and EX 850, with CSA input ranges of 40–399, 50–500, 70–700 and 85–850 MBH and CSA outputs of 388, 485, 679 and 824.5 MBH.

The models share a platform but split into two connection groups: the EX 400 and EX 500 use a 4" flue and 2" NPT-M water connections with 170 equivalent feet of vent per side, while the EX 700 and EX 850 step up to a 6" flue and 2½" NPT-M water connections with 120 equivalent feet per side. IBC notes that the 700 and 850 combustion air must transition to 6" within three feet of the 4" collar. All four are approved to 12,000 ft, rated 160 psig maximum operating pressure with a 50 psig relief valve supplied (alternatives of 30, 100, 125 and 150 psig are available).

Efficiency is published as thermal efficiency to ANSI/AHRI-1500: 97.9% on the EX 400, 97.5% on the EX 500 and 97.0% on the EX 700 and EX 850. The series documentation set includes the I&O manual 120-327E10, user guidelines 120-329E3 and a quick-reference guide 120-370E2.

What is the difference between the EX 400/500 and EX 700/850?
