Rinnai IP150S
The Rinnai IP150S is the largest fully documented I-Series+ solo: a heating-only condensing boiler firing 15 to 150 MBH of input at 64.8 lb per the manual, controlling an indirect tank for domestic hot water.

Input is gas energy consumed; output is heat delivered. Never size from input alone.
Rinnai IP150S in practice
The IP150S tops the documented solo range at 150,000 BTU/h of central-heating input while keeping the small-chassis format: 18.5 x 11.5 in, 0.88 gal of CH water and a 10.9 sq ft heat exchanger. The I&O manual prints its weight at 64.8 lb (29.4 kg); the product page's 62.6 lb is documented as a discrepancy with the manual figure used here.
Heating-only, the IP150S has no DHW connections: hot water comes from an indirect tank the boiler manages, with tank recovery priority as the documented default and a parameter to permit simultaneous CH and tank operation. Venting runs to 75 equivalent feet in 2" or 160 in 3" twin pipe.
Beyond this model the solo line continues with the IP175S and IP199S, which remain draft records here pending review of their raster-only English I&O manuals. Efficiency shown is the family marketing claim of up to 96% AFUE.
Best suited to
- The largest heating loads that still fit the small 18.5 x 11.5 in chassis
- Indirect-tank systems needing up to 150 MBH of recovery input
- Owners sizing a solo rather than a combi where a tank is preferred

Frequently asked questions
What is the IP150S's weight per the manual?
64.8 lb (29.4 kg) per the solo I&O manual spec table. The product page prints 62.6 lb, a documented discrepancy — the manual figure is used on Boilers.ca.
Can the IP150S heat a home and a tank at the same time?
Yes, with the documented parameter setting: the solo manual defaults to indirect-tank recovery priority, and setting parameter 33 to "b" permits simultaneous central heating and tank recovery.
Which models come above the IP150S?
The IP175S (175 MBH) and IP199S (199 MBH). Both are draft records on Boilers.ca pending review of their raster-only I&O manuals, and both are named in Health Canada recall RA-77507.
