The EG is an atmospheric cast iron boiler for water or steam, built in eight sizes from EG-30 to EG-75 at 75 to 282 MBH input. The US spec tables rate every size 84% AFUE in water and 82% in steam, with DOE heating capacities from 64 to 237 MBH (water) and 62 to 234 MBH (steam), net AHRI water ratings of 56 to 206 MBH, and net AHRI steam ratings of 47 to 176 MBH, or 196 to 733 sq ft.
EG boilers are Category I, B-vent appliances with vertical venting only: natural draft through a draft hood with an automatic vent damper and a 5" to 8" I.D. chimney collar depending on size. The manual lists a 3" supply tapping and 2-1/2" return on every size, a 1/2" gas connection on the 30 through 55 sizes and 3/4" on the 65/75, plus a 3/4" relief tapping; steam models use a 15 psi relief and a 1-1/2" minimum steam supply pipe, and a tankless coil is optional.
The EG is discontinued in Canada: the weil-mclain.ca page is live but sits in the site's Discontinued menu, while the US still sells the boiler as EG Series 6 (manual 550-142-303/1120) and EG Series 7 (manual 550-100-225/0425). Official model names are EG-30 through EG-75; "EG-6" and "EG-7" are series shorthand, not model numbers. One published discrepancy: the CA page lists steam coverage to 750 sq ft while the US table and manual top out at 733 sq ft (EG-75).
