IBC HC 13-50 in practice

The HC 13-50 is the smallest of IBC's discontinued HC heating boilers, rated 13.5–51 MBH CSA input (3.95–14.94 kW) for 12.4–45.4 MBH output (3.64–13.3 kW) at 94% AFUE. Unlike the DC combis, the HC models are heating-only: the specification table lists no domestic-hot-water rows, only the space-heating coil.

The space-heating coil is rated 43.5 psig maximum operating pressure and the unit ships with a 30 psig relief valve; space-heating water runs 50–194°F. At 84 lb (38 kg) it is the lightest model in the HC line, with a 126 W full-fire draw including the internal pump, 0.37 USG (1.4 L) of vessel water and 9 USgpm maximum / 2 USgpm minimum flow.

The 13-50 is covered by HC I&O manual 120-185-A-R10. It vents 120 equivalent feet in 3" or 35 feet in 2" per side, uses 5–14" w.c. gas supply and is approved to 12,000 ft altitude; the HC Series is discontinued but remains documented on IBC's Technical Information Portal.

Best suited to

  • Owners identifying the smallest HC boiler in an existing installation
  • Small homes or suites where 45.4 MBH output matches the load
  • Technicians working from HC I&O manual 120-185-A-R10
