IBC HC 29-106 in practice

The HC 29-106 covers 28.5–106 MBH CSA input (8.4–31.0 kW) for 26.3–94.3 MBH output at 94% AFUE. As with the rest of the HC line it is heating-only, with the 43.5 psig space-heating coil, a supplied 30 psig relief valve and space-heating water of 50–194°F.

The HC specification table prints the 29-106 output as 7.7–27.6 kW, while the DC table prints 8.9–32.3 kW for the same output range. Boilers.ca uses the HC table's figure here and notes the DC-page difference rather than mixing the two.

The unit weighs 85 lb (39 kg), holds 0.37 USG (1.4 L) and draws 128 W at full fire with the internal pump; maximum boiler flow is 10 USgpm and the minimum is 3 USgpm. It is covered by HC I&O manual 120-185-A-R9 and vents 120 equivalent feet in 3" or 35 feet in 2" per side.

Best suited to

  • Owners identifying an HC 29-106 and its HC-table ratings
  • Homes where roughly 94 MBH output matches the heat loss
  • Technicians cross-checking the HC and DC specification tables
