NTI Boilers Trinity Lx

The Trinity Lx is NTI's fire-tube condensing line for light-to-heavy commercial applications, also listed in its smaller sizes for residential use: Lx150 through Lx800 (plus the Lx700, which appears in the I&O manual but not the product page table), from 25 to 800 MBH input with easy-to-clean stainless steel heat exchangers.

About the Trinity Lx

NTI describes the Lx as its option for light to heavy commercial applications, with an easy-to-clean, high-power stainless steel heat exchanger, accessible electronics and an intuitive touchscreen with advanced cascade management. The product page table lists the Lx150, Lx200, Lx300, Lx400, Lx500, Lx600 and Lx800 (it omits the Lx700, which the 150–800 I&O manual covers at 160–700 MBH input).

The page lists AFUE of 93.5% (Lx150 and Lx200), 93.7% (Lx300) and 94% (Lx400 through Lx800), while the I&O manual gives DOE AFUE only for sizes up to 400 and rates the larger sizes by combustion efficiency (95%) and thermal efficiency (94%). Inputs span 25–150 MBH on the Lx150 up to 160–800 MBH on the Lx800, with the Lx150's LP maximum capped at 145 MBH.

Installation is floor-standing, with a wall-hung kit included for the Lx200–Lx400 (the page introduction says sizes up to 399 MBH can also be wall-hung). Venting is PVC, CPVC or polypropylene: 3" on the Lx150 and Lx200, 4" on the Lx300–Lx600 and 6" on the Lx800. In Greater Vancouver the Lx is sized by heat-loss or plant-demand calculation for multi-suite and light-commercial hydronic systems rather than by floor area.

Is the Trinity Lx a residential boiler?

NTI markets the Lx for light to heavy commercial applications and also lists the smaller sizes for residential use. The Lx150–Lx400 sizes are the ones most often considered for larger homes; sizes from 500 MBH are light-commercial oriented.

Which models does the Lx series include?

The product page lists the Lx150, Lx200, Lx300, Lx400, Lx500, Lx600 and Lx800. The Lx700 (160–700 MBH) appears in the 150–800 I&O manual and in the submittal downloads even though the page's spec table omits it.

Why does the Lx page list AFUE when the manual rates larger sizes differently?

The product page table prints 93.5% to 94% AFUE across the range. The I&O manual gives DOE AFUE for sizes up to 400 and rates the larger sizes by combustion efficiency (95%) and thermal efficiency (94%), which Boilers.ca notes rather than restating one figure for all sizes.
