Viessmann Vitocrossal 200 CI2-500
The Vitocrossal 200 CI2-500 steps the top of the CI2 entry chassis to 500 MBH: 50 to 500 MBH rated input (14.7 to 147 kW) at 97% combustion efficiency, in the same 789 lb (358 kg) unit with 29 USG of boiler water content as the CI2-399.

Viessmann Vitocrossal 200 CI2-500 in practice
The CI2-500 is the second size of the Vitocrossal 200 CI2 line. It keeps the CI2-399's 50,000 BTU (14.7 kW) minimum input and 97% combustion efficiency while raising the maximum to 500,000 BTU (147 kW) — pure headroom at the top of the entry chassis.
Weight (789 lb / 358 kg), water content (29 USG) and flue collar size (4 in) are identical to the CI2-399, so the two models share footprint, handling and venting plans. The stainless steel Inox-Crossal heat exchanger, MatriX cylinder burner, Lambda PrO₂ active O₂ trim and Viessmann One Base controls are common across the series.
As with the rest of the CI2 range, the page cites turndown up to 30:1, no required primary boiler pump and altitude operation to 10,000 ft without derate. The series' 4-inch flue and combustion-air collars belong to the two entry sizes documented by the service instructions (doc 6175 797 - 23, 04/2026).
Best suited to
- Plants whose load calculation lands between the CI2-399's ceiling and about 500 MBH
- Multi-boiler rooms wanting identical low-fire behaviour with more top-end headroom
- Commercial cascades built on the CI2 platform at the entry chassis size

Frequently asked questions
How does the CI2-500 differ from the CI2-399?
Only at the top of the range: maximum rated input rises from 399,000 to 500,000 BTU (117 to 147 kW). Minimum input (50,000 BTU), 97% combustion efficiency, 789 lb weight and 29 USG water content are identical.
Is the CI2-500 the same size as the CI2-399?
Yes, per the printed figures: both weigh 789 lb (358 kg), hold 29 USG of water and use a 4-inch flue collar. Only the maximum input differs.
Can the CI2-500 run on propane?
Yes. The page prints one rated-input range covering natural gas and liquid propane, and the technical data manual lists NG supply pressure of 4–14 in. w.c. and LPG of 10–14 in. w.c.
