Crown Phantom II Combi PHTM2200C in practice
The PHTM2200C tops the Phantom II combi range: space heating at 20–150 MBH input with a domestic hot water side firing 20–200 MBH (I&O manual Table 3-1), at 95.0% AFUE with 141 MBH DOE heating capacity and a 123 MBH net AHRI water rating (product ratings table). Its DHW ratings print the strongest draws in the line — 5.2 GPM at a 70°F rise, 4.7 GPM at 77°F and 4.0 GPM at 90°F — with a 0.5 GPM minimum flow to initiate DHW demand.
The combi sits in the large 20.4 × 17.8 × 29.8 inch cabinet at 135 lb shipping, connects on 1-1/4" sweat CH and 3/4" sweat DHW with 1/2" MPT gas, includes a low-loss header, and vents in 2" to 70 ft or 3" with increaser to 135 ft (on LP above 8,000 ft this 200-size combi is limited to 50 ft equivalent). Note: the product page's DHW input row prints '13.6-136' for the PHTM2200C, but the I&O manual's Table 3-1 prints 20–200 — the manual value is used here. With a 20 MBH minimum fire it belongs in larger homes that genuinely need the heating capacity as well as the DHW volume.
Best suited to
- Larger homes wanting one appliance for heat and high-volume hot water
- Households whose simultaneous draws exceed the 2136C's 3.4 GPM (77°F rise) figure
- High heat-loss homes within the 150 MBH space-heating input
