Slant/Fin Victory VSPH

The Victory VSPH is Slant/Fin's discontinued cast-iron, NON-condensing gas boiler: five fixed-input sizes VSPH-60 through VSPH-180 (60,000–180,000 Btuh) in a mechanically induced-draft, sealed-combustion DIRECT-VENT design that must vent in 3" AL29-4C stainless steel, with a 2018 heat-exchanger recall notice hosted on the official library page.

Series facts

Type
non-condensing
Efficiency

Fuel
Natural gas or LP propane: the gas valve is field-convertible NG to LP, with a high-altitude orifice chart to 10,000 ft (4% derate per 1,000 ft), per the VSPH I&O manual.
Venting
Direct vent, sealed combustion — mechanically induced draft with a positive-pressure flue: 3" diameter UL-listed AL29-4C stainless steel only (Heat-Fab Saf-T Vent / Saf-T EZ Seal, ProTech FasNSeal, Flex-L StaR-34, Z-Flex Z-Vent). NO PVC/plastic or galvanized flue, no vent damper, no common venting, 2 ft minimum flue length. The flue gas can partially condense in the blower discharge, so the boiler has a factory condensate drain and water trap. Combustion air intake: 3" PVC Schedule 40 or galvanized steel.

About the Victory VSPH

The Victory VSPH is a cast-iron, gas-fired, floor-standing boiler — NOT a condensing boiler and NOT wall-hung. Slant/Fin builds the five VSPH-60 to VSPH-180 sizes (60,000 to 180,000 Btuh fixed input, 3–7 cast-iron sections joined by metal push nipples, ASME 'H' stamp) as mechanically induced-draft, sealed-combustion direct-vent units whose positive-pressure flue must be 3" UL-listed AL29-4C stainless steel — no PVC/plastic or galvanized flue, no vent damper, and common venting not allowed. Because flue gas can partially condense in the blower discharge, the boiler carries a factory condensate drain and water trap.

The control is the HydroStat 3000 (DOE-2012 compliant, LED diagnostics), and the official product sheet rates the line 'AFUE to 86.1%'. Ratings run sea level to 2,000 ft with a 4%-per-1,000-ft derate and orifice change for higher elevations to 10,000 ft, and the gas valve is field-convertible NG to LP. MAWP is 50 psi ASME with a 30 psi relief valve, boiler water content is 3.0–6.4 gal, and dimensions run 11-1/8"–23-1/8" jacket width (A) with dimension B 17-3/8"–29-3/8" by model per the I&O manual Figure 1 (+1-1/2" height and 28-1/2" depth with the combustible floor kit).

Slant/Fin now lists the Victory VSPH under 'Vintage' in its official boiler library — the former product page returns not-found and the line is discontinued. IMPORTANT: the library also hosts 2018 recall notices (contractor and homeowner) covering a VSPH heat-exchanger recall; owners must open the current notices and confirm whether their unit's date range is affected — safety notices take priority over routine service information. Boilers.ca documents the VSPH at model level (VSPH-60, -90, -120, -150, -180). The related Victory II VHS line (cast-iron, Category II/III direct vent or chimney) is catalogued in the same official library but is not documented at model level on Boilers.ca; canadianStatus stays 'unknown' because no official Canadian-sales statement was found, even though Slant/Fin maintains a Canadian entity (Mississauga, Ontario).

Frequently asked questions

Is the Victory VSPH a condensing boiler?

No. The VSPH is a cast-iron, mechanically induced-draft (blower) sealed-combustion DIRECT-VENT boiler with a positive-pressure flue. Its flue gas can partially condense in the blower discharge, which is why it has a factory condensate drain and trap — but Slant/Fin classifies the boiler as non-condensing cast iron, and it must vent in 3" AL29-4C stainless steel, never PVC.

Was the Victory VSPH recalled?

Slant/Fin's official VSPH library page hosts 2018 recall notices — an initial contractor notification and a homeowner official notification — covering a VSPH heat-exchanger recall. Owners should open the current notices on slantfin.com and act on any that apply to their unit's date range.

Is the Victory VSPH still sold?

No. Slant/Fin lists the VSPH under 'Vintage' in its official boiler library and the former product page returns not-found, so Boilers.ca records productStatus 'discontinued'. No official Canadian-sales statement was found, so canadianStatus stays 'unknown'.
