Triangle Tube Instinct 199S (wall)
The Instinct 199S (INS199S) is the largest Instinct wall solo: 24.875 to 199 MBH of input at 95% AFUE with 8:1 turndown, rated 184 MBH DOE capacity — the heating-only ceiling of the Instinct wall line. Discontinued with the November 3, 2025 cessation.

Triangle Tube Instinct 199S (wall) in practice
The Instinct 199S tops the wall solo line at 199,000 BTU/h of input — 24,875 to 199,000 BTU/h — with a 159 MBH net AHRI rating and 184 MBH DOE capacity, all at 95% AFUE with an 8:1 turndown. It stands the same 26" tall in the 21.75"-wide cabinet at 105 lb with 4 gallons of water volume.
The 199S is the one Instinct solo without a published 2" vent run: the product page prints a 3" maximum run of 100 ft and leaves the 2" column empty, so 3" venting is the planning default for this size. It keeps the 1" MNPT supply/return and 3/4" MNPT gas connections of the smaller solos. Triangle Tube ceased operations November 3, 2025; this model is documented for the installed base.
Best suited to
- Large homes and small suites whose heat-loss calculation reaches 199 MBH
- Heating-only plants that want the full Instinct wall capacity
- Installations laid out for 3" venting from the start

Frequently asked questions
Can the Instinct 199S be vented in 2" pipe?
The product page prints no 2" maximum run for the 199S — its 2" column is blank while the 110S and 155S list 33 ft — and lists a 3" maximum run of 100 ft. The vent supplement 241576 is the sizing authority for the installed run.
How does the 199S compare with the 199C combi?
The 199S is heating-only (no domestic hot water inside the unit), while the 199C adds a large plate heat exchanger for on-demand DHW. Firing ranges are the same 24,875 to 199,000 BTU/h; the combi cabinet is taller (33" versus 26") and heavier.
