NTI Trinity TFTN285 in practice

The TFTN285 crosses from pure residential territory into NTI's light-commercial envelope: 28.5 to 285 MBH input on a wider 21 3/8 inch cabinet, 34 1/8 inches tall and 18 3/8 inches deep, weighing 180 lb with water. NTI lists it at 95% AFUE, still on 1 1/4" NPT CH connections and 3/4" NPT gas.

Venting is where this model simplifies planning decisions: the 2" option disappears and NTI lists 3" venting only, to 150 ft each side. Its 28.5 MBH minimum fire is well above the smaller TFTN models, so the correct audience is a building whose calculated load sits high — a large home with several zones, or a small commercial space — rather than an average detached house.

Best suited to

  • Large houses and small light-commercial plants with high heat loss
  • Buildings whose load calculation lands between the 199 and 285 sizes
  • Mechanical rooms that can run 3" venting within 150 ft
