IBC SL 14-115 G3

The IBC SL 14-115 G3 is a wall-hung residential condensing boiler with a 14 to 115 MBH input range and 95% AFUE, running on natural gas or propane. It is the size most often matched to a typical Lower Mainland detached home with radiators or in-floor heat.

Input is gas energy consumed; output is heat delivered. Never size from input alone.

IBC SL 14-115 G3 in practice

With a maximum input of 115 MBH and a CSA output of 109 MBH, the SL 14-115 G3 sits in the middle of the SL G3 range. Its low-fire input of 14 MBH lets it run steadily on mild days rather than cycling on and off, which matters in Vancouver's long shoulder seasons where a boiler spends most of its hours at part load.

It is a heating-only boiler. If you need domestic hot water from the same appliance, IBC documents a direct connection to an indirect water tank. If you want a single combined unit, a combi boiler from another series or brand may suit better; the buying guide on this site explains the trade-offs.

Venting is 3" Schedule 40 or 3" polypropylene with up to 240 equivalent feet on each side, or 100 feet in 2". This flexibility is one reason it is often specified when replacing an older atmospheric boiler whose chimney is no longer usable.

Best suited to

  • Detached homes and larger townhouses with hydronic radiators, baseboards or in-floor loops
  • Replacing an older mid-BTU cast-iron or atmospheric boiler
  • Homes adding an indirect tank for hot water

Frequently asked questions

What size home suits the SL 14-115 G3?

That depends on a heat-loss calculation, the emitters and hot-water demand, not floor area alone. As a rough guide it is commonly used in detached homes; ROMA confirms sizing during an assessment.

Does the SL 14-115 G3 heat domestic water?

Not by itself. It is heating-only; IBC documents connecting an indirect water tank directly to the boiler for domestic hot water.

Is the SL 14-115 G3 available in Canada?

Yes. It is listed on IBC's Canadian site and in the Canadian edition of the SL G3 brochure. Whether ROMA supplies it for your project is confirmed at consultation.
